All work and no play.....

Its grey, dark and gloomy outside, but I’m off again tomorrow so it can’t bother me. TH is very ill with the flu (its not even pretend this time!) so I have been getting lifts into work, which has been a godsend. Unfortunately (or possibly luckily) this means I get into work at 6.30 and don’t arrive home for another 12 hours. I have quickly ‘banked’ enough hours for a day off, and I think I’d really rather take it while TH is poorly and needs a bit of looking after, rather than saving it for later.

It means I can catch up on a Mothers Day make and get the house nice and tidy as it’s obviously really slipped with poor TH being in bed all night and day. I hate it when the house doesn’t look welcoming or cosy. I would never ever want to be the sort of person that couldn’t have people round because the house isn’t nice. It has to be either tidy ‘enough’ with good friends and too much tea and cake so they don’t notice or just pile it all in another room if the only options are mess or friends. I am house proud to the extent that things are clean, but I don’t spend all day scrubbing. I would rather spend my time re-arranging some flowers or organising a book shelf. Sometimes I can spend ages organising guest soaps in a room and utterly overlook bed linen needing to be put back on a stripped bed. So tomorrow I will take care of The Husband, I will have time to make the cookies for my Mum and decorate the little lavender sachets for Mothers Day, I will get the house back into order and I will do this all in my own time. Never has a prospect been more exciting.

How do you get your exercise?

Have you been looking at the sales, or have you been sitting inside all cosy and warm? Shopping online or walking the dog?
This year its TH’s turn to be poorly between Christmas and Hogmanay, the poor thing has had an awfully bad gout attack which has come along at the same time as the dreaded lurgy.
We had everyone round a couple of days ago and luckily The Husband was well enough to see it as the treat it was and not a horrible chore-which catering for others whilst poorly can so very often be.
However, apart from that, we’ve been lazing around, eating sweeties, and watching television. Cosying it up, and petting Daisy Dog, yup, its all good!

I'm not too awful and a massive Thank You

Hello one and all, and may i also add HAPPY NEW YEAR.  I have been quite absent this last little while, and no...its not because i was at an amazing party to bring in the New Year.  I have been struck down with actual FLU!  I don't think I've had the flu for about 7 years, colds and sniffles, but i have been very lucky, no matter, I'm not one for big parties and especially the new year, so if it had to come, then good job it didn't come in Spring or Summer time.
There are a whole host of things i haven't been doing lately and some of those are on here, in blog land.  I haven't said thank you for my wonderful swap parcel.  So here i am, going a very short way towards saying a massive thank you to Purple Sparkle Crafts for way too many gorgeous things and thoughtful presents.  My camera is dead and the charger has gone walk about again so i don't know when i can even begin to take pictures of all the amazing things i received.  Once again I've not only been astonished, but utterly floored by the kindness of the lovely bloggers out there.  Not only did Purple Sparkle Crafts organise the Christmassy Secret Santa Swap, but she outdid herself!
The obligatory New Years Resolution post will follow shortly, but sadly i must take down the Christmas decorations now.
Wishing you all a happy healthy new year full of the realisation of dreams and the love of the ones you care for.

A bit of Cath to cheer me up

A bit of Cath never did anyone any harm...unless turning into Verruca Salt and being a moan as i want so many beautiful things is a bad thing!! (and sure to get you struck off the Good List)

Seeing as I'm still feeling very sorry for myself and very poorly (have i mentioned that at all?!!)  The Husband has said i can get some cute jammies for getting better in!  How sweet is he!  I do get awful sinus trouble which cause the worst headaches, but i am on the mend and so i have graciously given up the Pj's...well, until Christmas Eve, when everyone knows you always get new jammies (so you can look nice in the Christmas morning photos)  Hurrah for me!  Maybe the moaning will stop?

Even if i wasn't getting anything...and its really not normally the case i get a treat for nothing, but even if i really wasn't getting a button i know I'd be quite happy to look at all of the gorgeous things on show.  As you can see I've been having a lie down, sleeping lots, watching TV and reading magazines!  It'd be great if i only i was feeling better!

Mary Poppins you sweetheart!

Mary Poppins had a give away not too long ago and i was super lucky to win it!!  It was a whole load of Dorset Cereal bars and a cute lunch bag for me to carry them..
Well, just this morning my Dorset Cereal bars arrived! They are delicious.

Yummy!!
I wish I could do a great big post explaining how happy I was when they came in the post, but I'm still under the weather and cant really muster the strength to tell you how grateful I am.

I have taken these pictures which I hope will make up for this. So from the very bottom of my heart…THANK YOU!

First Snow of Winter!

Okay, these were taken five minutes ago from the window...as you can see from the reflection!

I can't say its the first snow of the year, it stopped snowing here in May!

But it is the first snow we've seen in this house!

Really more hale than snow....but white all soft all the same

Poor neglected back garden!
Oooh am i that fairy of a white light in the window....ooops, just the flash!!

Its been a while!

Oh my goodness, I've caught the dreaded lurgy, that's for sure.  We had a really wonderful long weekend doing all things Christmassy, but i honestly can not even gather the strength to type up about it.  Unfortunately i didn't get as many photos as i would have liked, but i do have some, and i want to write a raving review about the Jamie Oliver restaurant in George Square-its beyond scrumptious!!

Anyhooo...i hope you all had a wonderful weekend full of Christmas flavoured delights...i know i have a whole load of posts to catch up on!

Feeling ever so poorly

The whole country seems to be beside themselves with excitement caused by all of the lovely snow.... I am however snuggled up in bed on the most awful of days.

It is ever so rainy, and blustery, so Daisy and I are wrapped under two duvets and settled upon a mountain of soft pillows!!! Mark has been feeling terrible, as I'm ill and there doesn't seem to be a thing he can do. The poor thing has been hurrying around with bowls of soup, and little slices of some cake I made before the weekend, and the start of this dreadful cold.

I have to admit, I have quite liked that we've been curled up while the wind is howling outside, but I do wish Mark wouldn't worry! I was up all night long, the night before last, and my other half didn't get five minutes sleep. I think that his boss understands though, as Mark popped home in between meetings with some chocolate buttons his boss got for me!!! I knew those cupcakes I made for everyone in the office would be a good idea.

However, while my own, ever-so-handsome, nurse has been out at his nine to five, I did get quite a lot of sleep and even managed to squeeze in two of my favourite films. Mark put them beside the television for me, so I wouldn't even have to venture as far as the living room for the DVD’s. So the afternoon was spent with Mary Poppins and my friends from The Holiday. Oooh I do love that film, and would simply love to have a home like Iris. It is so extremely beautiful.

I have been feeling so awful about being home and not doing anything, so I made an extra yummy roast chicken dinner for Mark coming home. I also think it set me up for feeling better, as I adore the smell of the roast from my kitchen. I don't think there is anything better.

Anyway, for now I think I will return to a good book, perhaps that copy of Pride and Prejudice we found in the second hand book shop in Oban......then I can dream lovely dreams with Mark as a kind Mr Bingley looking after the eldest Miss Bennet.
